Show Me Your O Face Recipe

sweet-onion-dip

For the Florida-Oklahoma football game, I made this hot sweet onion dip.  Hence, the name.   My one rule for dip is ease of preparation.  The easier, the better.

Show Me Your O Face Dip

One medium sized sweet onion
8 oz of cream cheese (room temperature)
1/2 cup of Mayo
1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon of sugar
2 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup parmigiano grated cheese
1/4 cup romano grated cheese
1/4 cup bread crumbs

1.  Mince garlic and dice onion.

2.  In a frying pan, sauté both until caramelized.  Add sugar and sauté for an additional minute.

3.  Set aside to cool.

4.  In a mixing bowl, combine mayo, grated cheese, and cream cheese.  Once blended add in onion mixture and pepper flakes.

5.  If you are going to microwave, place in plastic bowl and top with bread crumbs.  Microwave for 5 minutes at 60% and serve.  If you are going to bake (my preference), place in a glass dish and top with bread crumbs.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30-50 minutes, until warm and top is brown.
