It’s that time of year again– time for Greg’s birthday! This weekend we will be celebrating with ton of activities which include at least one brewery tour. Hazel’s even got her party hat ready and plenty of birthday kisses to share. Today’s Five on Friday is all about birthday in honor of the hubster.
Now on to the five!
Oh man was this a delicious way to celebrate Greg’s birthday. We had a celebration earlier in the week with his family and sang to Greg over this scrumptious trifle. If you’ve never had a trifle before it’s cake (or brownies in this case) with pudding, whipped cream and other tasty treats. Easy recipe to follow but I did one modification– instead of making my own whipped cream, I bought a can of it.
In our house, Valentine’s Day and birthdays start off with pancakes and not the microwaved type. Depending upon the occasion shaped pancake might be created using cookie cutters. Last year Greg made princess shaped pancakes for me. This recipe combines both birthday cake and pancakes to make it a morning the birthday person won’t forget.
If you really want to surprise the birthdayer, decorate with homemade pom poms! Plan the surprise for when they wake up or when they get home. It’s a lovely way to decorate and show your love. I’ve made them before and you’re going to mess up your first one as your figure it out but fortunately tissue paper is cheap at the dollar store.
4. Birthday Cocktails
For the over 21 crowd, celebrate with birthday cake cocktails. A simple recipe that gives you a reason to use the Iced Cake vodka. The best part about this cocktail are the sprinkles edging the glass’s rim. Here’s the recipe:
- 1 oz Amaretto
- 1 1/2 oz Smirnoff Iced Cake Vodka
- 1 1/2 oz Cream of Coconut
- 1 oz Half & Half
- Honey & rainbow sprinkles for the rim
- Mix and serve!
5. Puppy Wishes
For Greg, no birthday would be complete without a cute puppy picture.
