With the Superbowl and Puppy Bowl less than a week away, it’s time we start planning our party menus. Now if you are looking for a real crowd pleaser, look no further than my Sweet & Spicy Smokies recipe. I can’t take credit for it because it’s everywhere on the internet but I do take credit for the fun name– Sweet & Spicy Smokies.
Side note: The original title I had involved the word wieners and felt a little too pornographic. As did using the word wieners a bunch of times.
Mini hot dog/wieners/smokies/whatever you call them seem to be a staple at any function (typically as pigs in a blanket). This recipe provides a bit of flavor to your smokies. The taste isn’t overly spicy but balances the sweet perfectly.
This appetizer meets my party criteria:
- Easy to make
- Hazel approved
The recipe calls for a mini crockpot but you can easily cook them on the stovetop and serve or cook them on the stovetop and drop them into a mini crockpot to save time.
Sweet & Spicy Smokies
- One package cocktail wieners/smokies
- 8 ounces grape jelly
- 8 ounces chili sauce
1. Place the cocktail wieners in a mixing bowl.
